Opportunities
for self-development and understanding |
 |
 |
 |
| |
| IGO International,
which was formed in 2001 to initiate, arrange and manage
cultural and academic exchanges between people of various
countries, aims to help bring the world together and provide
people with opportunities for self-development and
understanding. |
| |
| |
| At an international
level, IGO International seeks to open doors around the world to
understanding and peace by using exchanges to unite people from
different families, different cultures, different continents, to
bring the world together – one friendship, one experience, one
exchange at a time. |
| |
| |
| At an individual
level IGO International seeks to offer people exchange
opportunities for self-discovery, for developing greater
awareness of themselves, for fulfilling their potential. These
experiences will fit them to become ambassadors of international
understanding and goodwill, people committed to making a
difference. |
| |
| |
| IGO International's
directors believe the essence of a successful exchange scheme
lies in the commitment of the exchange organisation, its
principals and its staff to be more than merely organisers and
administrators. |
| |
| |
| While organisational
and administrative qualities are essential to any exchange
scheme, those involved need to be motivated by higher ideals -
that they are playing an important role in the development and
maturing of exchangees at a crucial time of their lives; that
they are working towards improving international understanding;
that they are working towards making the world a better place
for everyone. |

IGO
International Experience |
 |
 |
 |
| |
| IGO International
principals are vastly experienced in the organisation and
administration of exchanges, the preparation of New Zealand
exchangees and the leadership of foreign exchangees in New
Zealand and New Zealand exchangees in overseas countries. |
| |
| |
| Together, IGO
International's four principals (Dion and Barbara Crooks, and
John and Anne Smith) have more than 30 years experience in the
very specialised field of exchanges. |
| |
| |
| Between them, they
have hosted close to 20 teenagers on a long-term basis, plus many, many
more for shorter times. And all of their own children have
participated in exchanges. |
| |
| |
| As well as hosting
teenage students, Dion and Barbara Crooks have been involved
with Rotary International Youth Exchange (RYE) since 1989, and
have been on the northern South Island area organising committee
for eight years. They headed the district RYE organisation for
five of those years. |
| |
| |
| The scope of the RYE
exchange increased 850% under their leadership and they
developed almost all of the methodology now used for running RYE
exchanges in this district. |
