High School Student Exchange

Where can you go?

When can you go?


	Year-long and six-months
	You leave New Zealand in January or August, depending on whether you are going to the northern hemisphere or the southern hemisphere.

	Two-months France
	You leave New Zealand at the beginning of December and return at the end of January.

How do you qualify?


	you need to be aged between 15 ½ and 18 when you leave New Zealand at the start of your exchange.

	You need to be eligible to hold a New Zealand passport.

	You need to have studied French or German for at least two years to qualify to go to France or Germany.

	You need to be mature, self-reliant and tolerant, with a desire to experience another culture, live with another family, make new friends, and probably learn a new language.

How much does it cost?


	Year-long		$6,950.00 plus air fares and visas.

	Six months		$6,250.00 plus air fares and visas.

	Two months		$3,950.00 plus air fares and visas.


	Fee covers selection, orientation, placement, insurance, liaison with host organisation, support for you and your family while you are overseas, administration.

	You and your family set your own budget for personal spending during your year overseas – you need to allow for clothing, day-to-day travel, optional travel and trips, phone expenses, postage, personal expenses etc.

Scholarships

	Scholarships

	We have a limited number of $1,000.00 scholarships for each of the countries we work with. If you’re interested tell us in up to 500 words why you should qualify, and send it with your application. Scholarship applications close April 6, 2010.

	Hosting scholarships

	Families of students going overseas with IGO International can qualify for a further $75.00 a week by hosting an overseas student.

	We will confirm we have received it.


	You then go through our selection process.


	If you’re successful, you will attend an orientation with your parents, and you’re on your way to one of the most memorable and significant experiences of your life!
